Unlike the systems we’ve looked at so far, the Paroli System is a ‘positive’ progression system, meaning that you increase your bets after a win versus a loss. It’s also probably one of the safer systems for gamblers to use as compared to other systems like the Martingale.
This system has been around for over 100 years and is most popular with those playing roulette, but is also very popular in Blackjack, Baccarat and Craps for even money and ‘close to even money’ bets.
Known as the ‘Reverse Martingale’ to many, it has a number of advantages over the Martingale system including:
- It doesn’t require a large bankroll to fund working the system
- The risk of financial ruin on a string of losing bets is significantly reduced
- It takes great advantage of both ‘warm’ and ‘hot’ tables
- Can accumulate a number of consistent small wins
- With the smaller stake on losing trends, gives you the opportunity to ride these out without quickly depleting your bankroll.
Like all systems, the Paroli System cannot change the house edge (casino advantage) of the game and will fall victim to that in the long run at the tables. But, in the short term, it changes the way wins and loses are incurred and gives you a good chance of leaving the table with additional cash in your pockets.
There are only 4 steps to the Paroli System and it is very easy to understand, memorize and execute at the tables.
- Determine the dollar size of your unit or base bet
- Double Your Bet When You Win
- Return to your 1 unit (base bet) after 3 consecutive wins
- Return to your 1 unit (base bet) after any loss
By using discipline in executing the Paroli System, you’ll minimize your loses by being at your base bet throughout any string of losses, protecting your bankroll, and it will capitalize on strings of 3 consecutive wins, and as you know, that happens quite often at the tables.
Additionally, by returning to your base bet and basically starting over after 3 consecutive wins allows you to put those winning in your rack and go back for more while the table is in your favor.
Let’s take a look at an example of how it works.

- Bet #1 $10 Lose – $10
- Bet #2 $10 Lose – $20
- Bet #3 $10 Lose – $30
- Bet #4 $10 Win – $20
- Bet #5 $20 Win – $0
- Bet #6 $40 Win + $40
- Bet #7 $10
While no system can guarantee that you win, you can see from the progression above, the advantages this system offers versus other systems out there.
The structure of this system helps you easily manage your bankroll, and anytime you win 3 consecutive bets, you’ve won 7 times the amount of your base bet, while losing strings remain at your base bet since you’re not chasing your losses.
Based on the size of your bankroll, you can easily adjust the base bet either up or down to fit your betting style and risk tolerance.
